Our Guest House

The Cute Little Cabana. We want to rent it. Its Air Conditioned, however it seems to be cool enough from the sea breeze that its not really necessary. Its fully furnished. It has a new refrigerator and microwave, in fact everything is new and has never been used. We would only consider renting it by the month. Its interior has a vaulted ceiling and little storage area above the deck.Kate and I built this small house for friends to visit or monthly rental. The road to town comes just up to the back and the Island ferry comes to the dock in front every other hour. The view of the reef from the deck is awesome. I'll take a photo and post it here soon. If you want to live in it your going to have to like Dogs and Birds. Oh yes the Birds, We have been kind to them with water and feeders. Wood peckers tapping, Morning Doves cooing,Chachalacka crowing, Owls hooting, Orioles whistling, Herons quocking, Humming Birds, buzzing....the place is noisy as hell. Tuff Guy

Tough Guy is the white dog
Guarding the beach in front of our house. He's a she. The most low maintenance of all the dogs. We found him in the bush when he was just a few weeks old.
Our house is out of town a little, about 5miles from the village of San Pedro. The Island is an ancient coconut plantation and coconuts are every where around our house. opening a coconut for visitors is fun for me.
The road is rough and comes up the back side of the island winding around the lagoon to the Beach and back where ever it can find high ground. If it rains forget it. Most folks use a boat to get to our end of the island but bicycling up the beach path is doable if your in shape. There is a Ferry service that comes to the dock going north on odd hours and south to San Pedro on even hours We take our own Boat to work every day.

Bubba

Got to have a photo of Bubba on the site. The Big Black Dog. I looked up the Name 'Bubba' in a book of name definitions once and it said, 'My big dumb brother'. Slobber king of the coconut grove and still growing at 85lb.s. Bubba is in a love relationship with a dog named 'Tough Guy'...... Tough Guy is a female dog and the name didn't fool Bubba for a minute. Bubba is a bird dog and felt like the term meant Ornithology. He,......despite His name has become the scientific type and is my helpful companion while I'm Birdwatching. Knows all the big Latin words and is a walking proverbial encyclopedia of birds.

Life is Good

Some famous wit once said, 'If you have no worries or anxiety, no bills or concerns about the rent then your probably a dog.'
Grace is the top dog, the oldest, the wisest, the fattest.
#1 traveled to Belize from California about 6 years ago and loves every minute. Grace is very annoyed by small dogs and children. Has an obvious love for cheese and chicken. Her two most favorite things to do are retrieving a Coconut after you throw it and taking long naps in the shade of the coconut trees on the beach.
